PNB Performs Don Quixote
(1/30 to 2/8, times vary) The Man of La Mancha is tilting at windmills again, and this time he’s surrounded by people pirouetting. Miguel de Cervantes’ ever appealing story was first presented as a ballet in 1869 (by Marius Petipa), and updated by Alexander Gorsky in 1900. If you missed its American premiere in 2012 at PNB, here’s your chance to catch this funny, high-energy performance.

(1/29 to 2/1, 8 p.m.) Acclaimed Argentine writer-director Mariano Pensotti presents an innovative “filmic drama,” which takes place on a captivating double-decker stage that looks like a cutaway apartment building. On the ground floor, film crews scramble to make four different films; simultaneously, on the top floor, we see the filmmakers’ personal stories play out.
