Homeownership among millennials is down from 43 percent in 2005 to 35.8 percent in 2015. According to a study done by Smartasset.com, an online interactive financial site, this decline may be due to the housing crash, the flexibility of renting and the high cost of education. What does this mean locally? The study found that the average Seattle millennial could afford to buy a home worth $200,000 in 2015. But let’s face it; $200,000 doesn’t go very far in Seattle’s competitive housing market these days. Despite the fact that this number is higher than any other city on the list, the average millennial will only be able to afford a home of a meager 539 square feet according to local real estate database company Zillow.

What would it look like if the Star Wars characters ruled the world? With the excitement for the opening weekend of Star Wars: The Force Awakens DesignCrowd, a virtual design studio based in Australia, wanted to find out. The company challenged their designers to create images in which your favorite Star Wars characters are re-imagined into real life political figures and the result is truly epic.

Vashon Island was named the most liberal place in America according to Crowdpac, an online political data service. According to a report by The Seattle Times, Crowdpac came to their conclusions by assigning an ideological score to each politician and then weighted donations made for each candidate according to those scores. For instance, a donation made to Bernie Sanders is weighted as more liberal, while one to Rand Paul is considered the most conservative. Needless to say, Vashon outshines the rest of the country scoring a nearly perfect 9.9 on the liberal scale.

The Utilities and Transportation Commission, as reported by Q13 Fox, will hold a hearing next week to determine if Ride the Ducks will be allowed to return to service. The company has been under review due to the devastating accident in which five students lost their lives in late September. According to Q13 the UTC is proposing that the company be allowed to continue operations with half of its vehicles under specific conditions recommended by the Commission. The attorneys for Ride the Ducks issued a statement assuring that the company will be in full cooperation and if allowed to resume operations the amphibious vehicles will no longer use the bridge that was the site of the accident.
