As the opening day of Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens draws near (December 18 if you don’t already know), Seattle fans, young and old, are strapping on their lightsabers and hitting the town in celebration. Whether you’re a hard-core fan or just looking to join in on the excitement we’ve compiled a list of events with a little something for everyone.

Star Wars-Themed Gingerbread Village
Stop by the Sheraton Seattle Hotel with the whole family before January 3 and you’ll be dazzled by its annual Gingerbread Village display, constructed this year with the Star Wars movies in mind. The Sheraton culinary team, with the help of local architecture firms, including 4D Architects, Bailly & Bailly and Skanska, created these masterpieces with an estimated 500 pounds of dough, 600 pounds of sugar, 180 pounds of egg white, 160 pounds of rice cereal treats, 4 gallons of molasses, and hundreds of pounds of candy. Each gingerbread display was made in accordance to this year’s theme May the Holidays Be with You. The exhibit is free with donations accepted on behalf of the Northwest Chapter of JDRF. To find more information on this year’s display go to GingerbreadVillage.org

Help your young Padawan live out his or her dream of becoming a Jedi with free lightsaber and force training classes offered at the Pacific Science Center on December 26 and 27 and January 2 and 3 beginning at 12 p.m. The classes will be held by members of the Jet City Saber Guild, a not-for-profit Star Wars costumed group that is dedicated to raising money for charity by performing stage combat with lightsabers. The group will also be performing for fans as they wait in line to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the Pacific Science Center on December 16 and 17. Since nothing says Jedi more than cabaret, head over to the Rendezvous Jewel Box Theater on December 11 for some Star Wars-inspired belly dancing and burlesque performances (shhh…some of the trilogy’s sexiest characters like Han Solo, Leia and even Darth himself will be there). The show will also include a viewing of trailers from the new film.

What’s more, on December 17 the Rendezvous presents Star Wars Remixed: Shadow of the Darkside. Follow Anakin Skywalker’s tortured journey to the Darkside remixed in this compilation of all six films. For show times and ticket pricing visit therendezvous.rocks or strangertickets.com.
