Pronto Cycle Share, Seattle’s recently launched bike share program, is putting some sunshine back on our streets with its yellow “Unicorn” bike that, starting today, will be stashed somewhere around the city. Simply find the bike, go for a ride and post a picture with it to your social media platform of choice (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) with the hashtag #VitaminP, and you’re entered to win free Pronto memberships and bike-related prizes from REI, Timbuk 2, Bern and more. Keep your eyes peeled for the yellow Unicorn bike, and start braving the elements!
NFL Stars Unite Against Bullying. Tonight Richard Sherman is featured in USA Networks’ “NFL Characters Unite” documentary. The annual anti-bullying show features NFL stars sharing their stories of overcoming adversity to stay focused on their paths to success. In the documentary, Sherman meets Tevin, a local at-risk teen trying to stay on track. Sherman and Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll mentor Tevin and provide resources to put him in a positive environment.
Up In Smoke. Users of the popular e-cigarette are concerned about higher taxes and limited flavors on the cigarette alternative due to recent legislation in the House and Senate. Governor Inslee is backing new measures aimed to slow the increase in use by high school students, which tripled between 2011 and 2013. The legislation would increase taxes by 95 percent on the devices, bringing them in line with tobacco prices.
Seattle’s new Ghostfish is Guiltless. Today at 3 p.m. when doors open to SoDo’s new Ghostfish Brewing, Seattle will have a home to our first exclusively gluten-free taproom. The new brewery, which will also serve gluten-free pizza, trades barley for gluten-free grains like millet and buckwheat in the brewing process, and will be open just in time for your Friday indulgence.
