Must Drink
Get Your Tickets for Seattle magazine’s Brew Seattle
Friday (10/23, 6 to 9 p.m.) If you haven’t attended Seattle magazine’s Brew Seattle the past two years, you’re missing out. The annual local-breweries-only tasting bash corrals some of the best beers from more than 20 breweries such as Big Al Brewing and Schooner Exact under one roof and pairs it all with eats aplenty.
Must Ramble and Read
Experience 30 Readings and 60 Authors in One Night
Thursday (10/22, times vary) Calling all bibliophiles, bookworms and blue-blooded bluestockings, Lit Crawl Seattle is back for a night of gallivanting from Town Hall to First Hill with 30 readings and 60 authors all in one night. Cut a rug after the prose at Fred Wildlife Refuge.
Must Listen
Wayne Horvitz Ensemble to Perform during Silent Movie Mondays
Monday (10/26, 7 p.m.) In 1979, Seattle jazz icon Wayne Horvitz composed a score to accompany a theatrical version of 1920 horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Horvitz has reconstructed that piece for a live screening of the film during Silent Movie Mondays. The score will be performed by the Wayne Horvitz Ensemble and the on-screen murders will be performed by a somnambulist under the spell of a deranged hypnotist.
Must Crush
Seahawks Take on the 49ers
Thursday (10/22, 5:25 p.m.) In a post-Jim Harbaugh NFL, one might be tempted to shrug off a meeting with Kaepernick and company. However, this NFC West rivalry is a lifelong commitment, folks. (And we lead the series 18-15, since our first meeting.) Let’s get another “W” for the books.
Must See
Buyer & Cellar at Seattle Repertory Theatre
(10/23 to 11/22, times vary) True story: In order to store her large collection of antiques and vintage garments, Barbra Streisand had a village of faux shops built in the basement of a barn on her property. So, what if an out-of-work actor took a job as a shopkeeper in the fake mall? As they say, hilarity ensues, but also some smart thinking about our unceasing interest in the lives of celebrities.
