This house is clean. Last week our famous Gum Wall received an epic (and much talked about and talked about some more) steam cleaning, which took crews an estimated 130 hours to complete. According to a press release from Pike Place Market, the gum that was cleaned off the wall weighed 2,350 pounds (1.175 tons) and filled 94 gallon-sized buckets. As for the Gum Wall Snap! photo contest, the organization received more than 2,325 entries. The overall winner was Rayana White for this adorable and inventive submission:
On Saturday, November 14, Pike Place Market invited artists to take part in a paste-up art installation that would help “revitalize the artistic feel of Lower Post Alley,” according to the release.
