The most exciting thing to happen to Hanukkah in years was Adam Sandler’s recent release of his new, fourth verse of “The Hanukkah Song.” But, those of us dreidel-spinners living in Seattle are almost as equally excited for Golden Beetle’s Hanukkah small yet inventive menu, which is available through Dec. 14 and starts at just $5.

Chef Maria Hines is using local, winter ingredients to create exceptional Hanukkah treats at her organic Mediterranean restaurant in Ballard, including potato latkes with housemade apple sauce, creme fraiche and green onion ($7), matzo ball soup with smoked chicken, carrot and parsley ($9), roasted root vegetables with parsnip, rutabaga, and fingerling potato ($8), and traditional stuffed donuts (sufganiyot) with persimmon filling and powdered sugar ($5).

She’ll also have two kosher wines from Israel available for $11 a glass. Not a wine person? Order the mulled wine ($9) or hot buttered rum ($11). Both warmers are all available all month. Golden Beetle is located at 1744 NW Market St., Ballard. Check it out at golden-beetle.com.
