Shop for Prom Dresses at SoDo’s Dolce Bleu
By Seattle Mag February 11, 2014
!–paging_filter–pShopping for a prom dress with a teenage girl is a memorable experience, as much for the thrill of it as for the potential for a meltdown. A failed search for just the right gown for her daughter’s prom, combined with a profuse love for all things sparkly, prompted West Seattle–based Crista Martin to open Dolce Bleu (3220 First Ave. S; 206.420.7320; a href=”http://www.dolcebleu.com” target=”_blank”dolcebleu.com/a) last fall, a formal dress shop in a soaring SoDo warehouse space stocked with a bevy of beaded and sequined gowns appropriate for proms, galas, weddings and pageants. Should you know a teen in the market for a prom dress this year, “The trend is the mermaid fit and lace…in fun, bright colors with lots of sparkle,” Martin says. Dolce Bleu’s inventory ranges from $99 to $880, in sizes 00–18 or 3XL, from designers such as Jovani, Sherri Hill, Tony Bowls, Flirt by Maggie Sottero, Faviana and La Femme, and includes a selection of rental gowns, which start at $40 for two days./p
