Gap’s #Dressnormal Pop Up Comes to Seattle

Sometimes a fashion phenomenon comes along that unexpectedly catches fire and this year, it’s Normcore. In case you’re out of the loop, Normcore is all about dressing, wait for it, normally. Which means sensibly, anonymously—conspicuously inconspicuous—in mom jeans, practical shoes, fleece and often an oversized tee shirt with a logo on it from the 90s or early 2000s. It’s been written about in New York magazine and in almost every fashion publication and has made quite a splash at this year’s international fashion weeks. This one is my favorite—even my grandma wouldn’t be caught dead in the jacket on the left. It’s egregious.

To get to the point of this post, many national retailers, especially Gap have fully committed to Normcore. The brand’s fall campaign even has an accompanying hashtag: #Dressnormal and has created a traveling #Dressnormal pop-up shop coming to Seattle on September 19, co-created by local influencers along with stylist and costume designer Trish Summervile (The Hunger Games and The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo).

The pop-up will use photographic evidence to explore how Seattleites interpret Normcore dressing.

Explore it yourself from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21 at 2312 First Ave. in the heart of Belltown.

Tinsel, eggnog, mistletoe, and luggage

Travel lovers are the easiest people to buy for. Wrap a gift in old maps and they’ll spend hours deciphering the roadways and important coordinates. Put something inside the wrapping that will satiate their wanderlust, or encourage it, and you might be their next invitee to Paris.
