Mia Fioravanti showed up on our radar thanks to a tip from Juniper boutique owner Lisa Clinton, whose Madrona shop was the first in town to carry this Beacon Hill designer. “Her designs are so simple and elegant. I was immediately drawn to them,” Clinton says. “The drape and style of her pieces are well thought out, and flattering and comfortable on a range of body types.” The same goes for age, says Fioravanti, who isn’t trying to design for the younger demographic alone.

“I refuse to be pigeonholed into an age range,” she declares. “I just focus on amazing fabric and designs that are minimal, versatile and easy to wear all day and into the night.” Fioravanti hits that mark with ease, using high-quality jersey, fine Italian knits and organza for her compact collection, which includes an amazing, simple, timeless and chic little black dress in an equally comfortable price range ($110); a fashion-forward pinafore in a wonderfully quirky white linen mesh ($185), made to be worn over a patterned or striped stretch tube dress($110)—an unexpected combination that just works; innovative leather wrap skirts in a variety of bright colors ($110); and a top ($150) and skirt ($160) in a wispy, washed silk organza reminiscent of Comme des Garçons and Issey Miyake.

Available at Juniper in Madrona, 3314 E Spring St., 206.838.7496; MoMo in Chinatown–International District, 600 S Jackson St.; 206.329.4736; and online at mfioravanti.com

Even just one purchase — a computer, for instance — can recoup a basic membership fee. Rumors have been swirling for years that the company would raise its…
