Not to Miss Weekend Shopping Events
By Seattle Mag November 30, 2012
In addition to the craft-acular Urban Craft Uprising at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, there is so much incredible stuff happening the Seattle shopping scene this weekend. See if you can cram all of it in. The gauntlet has been thrown.
Lizzie Parker at Nordstrom
Last September, this Issaquah-based designer and former contestant on NBC’s Fashion Star showed at The Bellevue Collection’s Independent Designer Showcase during their fashion week, and one of her dresses, a long, white, sparkly stunner captured the fashion of Vogue magazine’s Anne Vincent, who wore the dress, now named the “Anne,” to the Front Row Fashion show a few nights later. Quite a coup for Ms. Parker! Especially since the dress, along with a shorter version, will be sold at Nordstrom Bellevue Square, with Parker showcasing them (and other exclusive Lizzie Parker designs) during a special free trunk show and personal appearance on Saturday, December 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second floor Special Occasion department. The event is free so invite your friends and stop by to show your support for this dynamic local designer. The Lizzie Parker “Anne” Dress is also on Nordstrom.com and features a gossamer blouson bodice atop a side-tie skirt of a gauzy, delicately glittery maxi dress and retails for $238.

Merry in Madrona
Stores along 34th St., Madrona’s main drag, will be abuzz with shopping opportunities on Saturday, December 1. Juniper, Hitchcock Madrona, Cameos & Crowns and other businesses along this cute corridor will stay open late, with sales, treats and trunk shows.
Emilie Sloan Host Etsy Sellers
Head to Pacific Place on Saturday, Decemeber 1 from 1 to 4 p.m for a little indie shopping. Yes, you read that right. Emilie Sloan, known for brightly colored floral and patterned bags of all sizes and shapes is hosting over a dozen local Etsy sellers, including Baby Souls Couture Shoes, jewelry by Ashley Elaine Designs and On the Hook’s delicate crocheted bowls. Trophy cupcakes will be available for devouring, and 10 percent of each sale is being donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Prairie Underground Sample Sale
You have both weekend days to shop at Prairie Underground’s Annual Sample Sale, happening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Canal Building in Fremont (716 North 34th St) where hundreds of previous season Hoodies, Dresses, Tops and Bottoms (mostly seconds and overstock) will be available at 50-80 percent off retail. Last year Prairie Underground donated close to $10,000 to Babes Network from the proceeds of this sale. This year the plan is to diversify the donation of the sale proceeds to more charities, including, but not limited to: Seattle Art Museum, Reel Girls, On the Boards and Casa Latina. A few tips for this sale: Dress in clothing that you can easily try stuff on over. These sales get busy and dressing room space can be challenging to find. If possible, bring an honest friend to act as your mirror—as with dressing rooms, mirrors can be hard to squeeze in front of. Play nice and have fun.
Rosanna Warehouse Sale
Just in time for holiday table setting and gift giving, Rosanna is hosting their bi-annual warehouse sale at their headquarters in Georgetown on Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Intrepid shoppers will find great deals (much below wholesale pricing) on over stock and slight seconds of Rosanna’s signature serving bowls, dessert plates, cake stands and more, as well as select vintage furniture and collectables. For every dollar shoppers donate to Rosanna’s designated charities, Regina House and Go Red For Women, they’ll receive a raffle ticket for super special prizes and shoppers who spend over $50 get a free tote bag. Leave the kiddos at home for this one—nothing’s more nerve wracking than a toddler in a china shop.
