Green Eileen Store to Open in Columbia City in March 2013
By Seattle Mag January 2, 2013
Eileen Fisher has been making women look chic and feel good since 1984. The downtown Seattle store has been open for 15 years—and many of the same employees who opened the shop are still working there—which is a testament to how awesome an organization it is.
In addition to their high quality style and happy employees, Eileen Fisher is doing good on a larger scale with Green Eileen, a recycled clothing initiative that involves customers donating their gently worn Eileen Fisher clothing in exchange for a $5 Eileen Fisher gift card per items. The used pieces are then sold in a Green Eileen store, one of which is opening in Columbia City this very spring, with the proceeds benefitting various nonprofits that the company supports.
The Green Eileen program launched less than three years ago and has already generated over a million dollars for their charitable partners. The south Seattle store will be the second Green Eileen in the country; the first one opened in Yonkers, New York.
Word on the street is that the Columbia City Green Eileen will open in March and we’ll keep you up to date on that as details emerge.
