The Best Thing Our Food Editor Ate This Week: Fried Rabbit & Waffles

Move over, chicken. This is fried rabbit and waffles.

I know what you’re thinking. Not the most award-winning food photography. Well, what can I say. We were having brunch at In-Season Fresh Take-Away & Cafe in Phinney Ridge and my husband had practically inhaled his whole order before I got to have a taste and deem it The Best Thing I Ate All Week.

Despite its slightly unappealing brown facade, the Fried Rabbit & Waffle ($14.25) is absolutely delectable, from the braised, boneless rabbit that is bread and fried to the toasty four-grain waffle. See the droplets just east of the waffle and north of the eggs? That’s homemade orange-cardamom syrup. It’s the perfect sweet and aromatic balance to the salty, peppery rabbit.

That’s right. Move over, chicken.
