Proof, Washington’s annual celebration of Northwest distillers and the delicious products they make, is just a few shakes away. The Washington Distillers Guild’s sampling party takes place 5:30-9 p.m. July 8 at Fremont Studios ($50-$75). This year, Proof’s fifth, brings more than 35 of our awesome booze-makers together to talk about their craft and pour samples for those lucky enough to attend. You can purchase bottles of your favorites right there as well. This year’s roster includes broVo Spirits, Puget Sound Rum Company, Salish Sea Organic Liqueurs, Westland Distillery and many more.

But it’s not just sampling spirits, liqueurs and vermouths straight. There will be cocktails featuring locally-made products, mixers like Bradley’s tonic and drink accompaniments from Seattle Pickle Co. And, because drinking and eating go so well together, there are also edibles from a range of purveyors, including Edmonds’ 190 Sunset, Frolik, Pennyroyal, luscious Bluebird Ice Cream, Fran’s Chocolates and more. Garnishing the night, there are cocktail-related classes from experts on ice, American Whiskey and and gin. Sip, snack, learn—a perfect way to spend a Saturday.

Sound like your cup of gin, whiskey or rum? Consider springing for a VIP ticket, which grants you early entrance at 4:30 p.m., a commemorative tasting glass, extra tasting tokens and a VIP swag bag.

How is there not a line out the door?

Each time I return, for the mortadella sandwich with whipped ricotta and “pistachio jazz” at lunch or the black garlic knots at dinner, I marvel that the massive crowds of Seattle dining scenesters have yet to find it.
