Fans of Barneys New York Seattle, the dual level designer department store on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Pike Street, will be glad to know the lights are back on.

Shortly after Christmas Day, the company installed street level signs stating it was closed due to “an unfortunate circumstance,” which involved a grease leak from a certain restaurant a couple floors above. Taking the incident in stride, the company decided to remodel the store’s interior debuting just in time for spring.

“We wanted to refresh the store while still using the existing design concept,” said Joe Sena, west coast regional vice president. “We installed lighter colors on the flooring and added new furniture to the women’s show salon to update the overall look of the store.”

At the reopening reception on April 25, with sales benefitting the Jubilee Women’s Center, a fashionable flock of Seattleites and loyal patrons showed up to discover the new designer collections and see the new look up close.

“We will continue to focus on exclusive brands and products that can only be purchased at Barneys New York,” said Sena. ”Our vendor mix is constantly being reviewed to ensure we are offering a curated assorting of product that suits our clients’ lifestyle.”

Of course, it’s easy to get distracted by the wall of Celine bags on the first floor and the new rack of Kenzo designs upstairs, but for anyone who stops by 600 Pine Street its’s easy to see why it was worth the wait.
