Starting Saturday afternoon in Seattle’s Magnuson Park, local cyclists will make a thrilling attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for “Most E-Bikes on a Ride.”
Cascade Bicycle Club, a Seattle-based nonprofit, is inviting the city to participate in “E-Bike World Record Ride & Expo.” Starting at Lot E-5 in Magnuson Park, the event features a two-mile parade, where 275 bikes will be needed in the procession starting at 2 p.m. Rad Power Bikes, which has a location in Ballard, will be providing demo bikes, and LimeBike will be providing 100 e-bikes for the event on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Additionally, said Brent Tongco, spokesman for Cascade Bicycle Club, “We’re providing free commemorative t-shirts to the first 500 folks participating in the ride.”
The event, which is free, will celebrate e-bikes and promote them as a sustainable mode of transportation to potentially decease Seattle traffic. Owners of e-bikes or cyclists with access to an e-bike are encouraged to ride them.
“Something like this is important because it helps raise awareness and excitement for e-bikes,” said Ty Collins, co-founder and CMO of Rad Power Bikes. “While more and more people have become familiar with e-bikes over just the last few years, they are still not a household name like they are in Europe. If we can help raise awareness and create potential new riders, that’s a big win.”
Attendees can meet bike vendors- Rad Power Bikes, LimeBike, G&O Family Cyclery, Performance Bike Shop, Bike Swift Seattle, Seattle Electric Bikes, Vashon E-Bikes and Swift Industries showcasing a variety of new e-bike products and accessories as well as additional vendors– Nuun Hydration, Puget Sound Energy, Black Star Kebabs, and Alexandra’s Macaroons.
Invite your friends and family and join cycling enthusiasts to set a record!
Participants are asked to pre-register online at cascade.org/E-world-record-attempt.
