Who knew that esteemed local choreographer Donald Byrd—famed for his serious, often political pieces—is a big fan of Seattle’s Ride the Ducks tour?

Or that Seattle Symphony conductor Ludovic Morlot has season tickets to the Sounders? These are a couple of the many surprising insights about our city’s prominent artists revealed in The Artists’ Guide to Seattle.

The brand-new edition of the booklet, produced by Seattle’s Convention and Visitors Bureau, features an all-new roster of 22 local artists sharing their favorite places and things in Seattle.

Novelist Garth Stein, choreographer Zoe Scofield, musician John Osebold, comics writer Ellen Forney, filmmaker Lynn Shelton and others offer personal recommendations for nature walks, art venues, neighborhoods and must-sees for visiting friends and family. In the process we get to know our city a little better, as well as the artists who call it home.

Free. Booklet available at the Visitor’s Center in the Washington State Convention Center, and as a downloadable PDF via visitseattle.org
