pContest begins at 9:00:00 a.m. Pacific Time (“strongPT/strong”) on May 21, 2014 and ends at 9:00:00 a.m. PT on June 30, 2014 (the “strongContest Period/strong”). To participate in the Contest, individuals may visit the following website: a href=”http://\/\/staging.seattlemag.com/BCcontest“http://\/\/staging.seattlemag.com/BCcontest/a (the “strongWebsite/strong”) and complete and submit an online entry form (each an “strongEntry/strong”)strong /strongprior to 9:00:00 a.m. PT on June 30, 2014. spanLimit of one (1) Entry per person and per email address/span. All Entries must be manual. Automated Entries are prohibited, and any use of automated devices will result in disqualification from the Contest. Separate data charges may apply to Entries submitted using a mobile device./p
pstrong2. ELIGIBILITY/strong/p
pTo be eligible to participate in the Contest by submitting an Entry, you must:/p
p(a) nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; be a legal resident of the United States of America; and/p
p(b) nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; have reached the age of 19 at the time you submit your Entry./p
pspanYou are not eligible to participate in the Contest by submitting an Entry if you are: /span(a) an employee, representative or agent of either of the Sponsors, or an employee of a representative or agent of either of the Sponsors or (an “strongEmployee/strong”); (b) an immediate family member (defined as mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, or spouse, regardless of where you reside) of an Employee (a “strongFamily Member/strong”); or (c) a person domiciled with an Employee or a Family Member./p
pAt any time, the Sponsors will have the right to request from any individual who has participated in the Contest by submitting an Entry (each an “strongEntrant/strong”), proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate. Failure to provide proof within a reasonable time or the provision of false or misleading information could result in the Entrant’s disqualification. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, state and local laws and regulations. The Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any Entrants who, in the Sponsors’ sole discretion, do not comply with these Official Rules or who otherwise tamper with the entry process. pstrong3. PRIZES/strong/p
pThere are three (3) prizes of a trip to a specified location within British Columbia (each a “strongPrize Trip/strong”) available to be won, one (1) to Vancouver, one (1) to Whistler and one (1) to Salt Spring Island.nbsp; Each Prize Trip is for the winner and one (1) designated guest (the “strongSelected Guest/strong”). Winners for each Prize Trip will be selected in accordance with the process set out in Rule 4. nbsp;The specific trip components for each Prize Trip will be customized by the respective winners in consultation with Destination BC, as described below. After a winner is declared for each Prize Trip, the winner will cooperate and liaise with Destination BC and/or its authorized representative to finalize the details of their Prize Trip from options to be presented and facilitated by Destination BC, with the winner’s input. Each Prize Trip will include the following components:/p
pspanVancouver “Foodie Getaway” (the “strongVancouver Prize/strong”) /span/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Transportation allowance (which may include gas and/or base rental charges for economy car rental subject to meeting rental car eligibility criteria) for travel to Prize Trip destination and during Prize Trip;/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Two nights’ accommodation at a four star or higher luxury hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia (which may include standard hotel accommodation based on double occupancy, one (1) room only);/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Edible Canada Chef Market Dinner and Granville Island Public Market Tour for two;/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Wine or Beer Beverage Tour for two; and/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Spending money of $400 CDN for the winner./p
pspanWhistler “Mountain Rejuvenation Getaway” (the “strongWhistler Prize/strong”)/span/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Transportation allowance (which may include gas and/or base rental charges for economy car rental subject to meeting rental car eligibility criteria) for travel to Prize Trip destination and during Prize Trip;/p

p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Peak 2 Peak Gondola Sightseeing Tour for two; and/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Spending money of $400 CDN for the winner./p
pspanSalt Spring Island Gourmet Getaway (the “strongSalt Spring Island Prize/strong”)/span/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Transportation allowance (which may include ferry fees, gas and/or base rental charges for economy car rental subject to meeting rental car eligibility criteria) for travel to Prize Trip destination and during Prize Trip;/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Two nights’ accommodation on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia at Hastings House Country House Hotel or accommodation at an equivalent level (which may include standard hotel accommodation based on double occupancy, one (1) room only);/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Massage for the winner and the Selected Guest; and/p
p-nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Spending money of $400 CDN for the winner/p
pThe exact details and components of the Prize Trips, such as length of the trip and transportation and accommodation arrangements will be finalized by Destination BC, in consultation with the respective winners, after the winners have been declared, and all such details and components will be subject always to Destination BC’s sole and absolute discretion. Spending money of $400 will be provided to the winners regardless of the Prize Trip components finalized by Destination BC./p
pThe actual retail value of each Prize Trip will depend upon the final trip details and components, but spanwill not exceed $3,000 USD/span, inclusive of all applicable taxes (the “strongMaximum Trip Value/strong”). nbsp;Payment of taxes, if any, related to the Prize Trips will be the responsibility of the individual winners; however, each winner will also be awarded a cash amount equal to twenty five per cent (25%) of the actual retail value of the applicable Prize Trip (up to a maximum of $750 USD), to be used by each winner towards the payment of taxes in respect of the applicable Prize Trip, for a total maximum approximate retail prize value per prize of $3,750 USD./p
pThe total maximum retail value of all Prize Trips (including cash amount towards payment of taxes) is $11,250 USD./p
pAny costs and expenses for the Prize Trip components not specifically included by Destination BC in the finalized Prize Trip packages, and all other costs and expenses not specifically referred to in these Official Rules, (including without limitation incidental hotel expenses, additional accommodations and transportation if required, additional activities, meals, gratuities, travel and health insurance, travel documentation, souvenirs and items of a personal nature) and all applicable taxes in respect of any such additional costs and expenses, as well as all costs and expenses in excess of the Maximum Trip Value, will be the sole and exclusive responsibility of the winners and/or their Selected Guest./p
pFor the purpose of determining the value of the components of each Prize Trip, the determinations of Destination BC will be final and binding. spanAny difference between the Maximum Trip Value and the actual value of the applicable Prize Trip will not be awarded. /span/p
pIf a car rental is confirmed as part of a finalized Prize Trip package, such rental is subject to the winner and/or the Selected Guest meeting all applicable eligibility requirements of the car rental company and the cost of any optional insurance coverage is the responsibility of the winner and/or the Selected Guest. Accommodation is subject to availability at time of booking and minimum advance reservations may be required. Certain activities may not be available at time of travel and Destination BC reserves right to make substitutions of selected Prize Trip components in its sole discretion. Destination BC also reserves the right to restrict, in its sole discretion, the number of days included in each Prize Trip package and other Prize Trip components. Depending on the specific trip components included by Destination BC in the finalized Prize Trip packages, some additional eligibility requirements and restrictions may apply; the winners will be provided with additional details./p
pEach winner and their Selected Guest must travel together on the same itinerary as determined by Destinationnbsp; BC in its sole discretion. The Selected Guest must, at the time of travel, be 19 years of age or older. The winners and their Selected Guest are responsible for securing all required travel documentation prior to participating in the applicable Prize Trip./p
pstrongPrize/strong strongtravel must be completed within one (1) year following the date on which the applicable Prize Trip is awarded to the declared winner (the “Award Date”) in accordance with the selection and verification process described in Rules 4 and 5. /strongIf, for health or any other reasons, the declared winner and/or their Selected Guest cannot complete travel within one (1) year following the Award Date, the winner nbsp;may be required to forfeit the applicable Prize Trip in its entirety, at Destination BC’s sole discretion./p
pstrongThe above description constitutes the expected components and details of the Prize Trips; all aspects of the Prize Trips are subject to availability, schedules, weather conditions and other factors beyond Sponsor’s control and are subject to change./strong Black-out dates for travel, accommodation and certain arranged activities and/or experiences and other restrictions may apply./p
pThe Prize Trips are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded. The Prize Trips cannot be substituted or redeemed for cash or otherwise, except in Destination BC’s sole discretion. All components of the Prize Trips must be approved by Destination BC and Destination BC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse, amend or otherwise change any and all components of the Prize Trips. Destination BC reserves the right to substitute any or all components of the Prize Trips for components of equivalent or greater value (as determined by Destination BC in its sole discretion) if any Prize Trip or any component thereof cannot be awarded as described for any reason. Destination BC will not be responsible if factors beyond Destination BC’s reasonable control prevent any Prize Trip or any component thereof from being fulfilled, including if any winner and/or Selected Guest is unable or ineligible to travel or participate in any components of the applicable Prize Trip for health or any other reasons. In any such event, Destination BC reserves the right not to substitute prizes or cash equivalents./p
pBy participating in the Contest by submitting an Entry, you:/p
p(a)nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; acknowledge that your right to claim the applicable Prize Trip if you are selected or declared as a winner is subject to these Official Rules;/p
p(b)nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; further acknowledge that, if selected or declared as a winner, there may be circumstances (as set out in these Official Rules) in which you may be required to forfeit your right to claim the Prize Trip you were selected for, including if (i) you cannot complete Prize Trip-related travel within one year following the Award Date, (ii) you are disqualified from participating in the Contest for the reasons listed in Rule 4, or (iii) you and/or your Selected Guest do not follow Destination BC’s instructions regarding release documentation as described in Rule 5;/p
p(c)nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; agree that, if you are required to forfeit your right to claim the applicable Prize Trip as described in paragraph (b), you will waive any claim you may have (at that time or in the future) to the Prize Trip, and you further agree to release and forever discharge the Sponsors and their respective representatives, including employees, agents, licensees, successors, assigns, contractors and subcontractors from any and all liability arising from your forfeiture of the Prize Trip; and/p
p(d)nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; agree to execute and deliver any further releases and documents as may be reasonably necessary, in the Sponsors’ sole discretion, to give full effect to paragraph (c)./p
pIf any Prize Trip is forfeited at any time after a Contest winner for that particular Prize Trip has been declared, then the Sponsors may, at their sole discretion, select a new winning Entrant for the forfeited Prize Trip using the process set out in Rule 4./p
pstrong4. SELECTION OF WINNERS/strong/p
pOn July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. PT, a random draw will be conducted by Seattle Magazine to select three (3) potential winning Entries from all eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.nbsp; The first Entry selected will be for the Vancouver Prize, the second Entry selected will be for the Whistler Prize and the third Entry selected will be for the Salt Spring Island Prize. nbsp;Odds of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period. Destination BC or its authorized representative will attempt to contact each selected Entrant by email once per day for five (5) consecutive business days. If, for any reason, Destination BC is unable to contact a selected Entrant by email, Destination BC may, in its sole discretion, attempt to contact that selected Entrant by other means, though Destination BC is under no obligation to do so and reserves the right to select another Entrant in accordance with this Rule 4 in such an event. Each selected Entrant will have a further five (5) consecutive business days from the time the last attempt to contact that selected Entrant was made to respond via email, phone or voicemail. If a selected Entrant does not respond as required under this Rule 4, or responds but is deemed to be ineligible in Destination BC’s sole discretion, or is unable or unwilling to comply with these Official Rules (including if the selected Entrant is unable to complete Prize Trip-related travel within one year following the Awardnbsp; Date), that selected Entrant will be disqualified and another potential winning Entrant for that particular Prize Trip will be randomly selected from the remaining eligible Entries and contacted in accordance with this Rule 4. Destination BC is not responsible for any change in an Entrant’s email address or for any failure whatsoever of an Entrant to receive Destination BC’s notification or for Destination BC to receive a selected Entrant’s response./p
pBefore being declared the winner, each selected Entrant must first correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill testing question to be administered by Destination BC or its authorized representative by phone.nbsp; If a selected Entrant fails to correctly answer the mathematical skill testing question, that Entrant will be disqualified and another potential winning Entrant for that particular Prize Trip will be randomly selected from the remaining eligible Entries using the process set out in this Rule 4./p
p 5. RELEASES
/ppBefore being declared a Contest winner, each selected Entrant will be required to sign a declaration of eligibility and release form (the “strongRelease/strong”) indicating that the selected Entrant: (a) has complied and agrees to comply with these Official Rules; (b) accepts the applicable Prize Trip as offered; (c) will keep his/her winning notification confidential until notified by Destination BC or its authorized representative; (d) releases the Sponsors, their respective agents, employees, licensees, successors, assigns, contractors and subcontractors, and any other parties to be added to the Release in Sponsor’s sole discretion (the “strongReleased Parties/strong”), from any and all liability arising from his/her participation in the Contest or his/her acceptance, use, misuse or awarding of the applicable Prize Trip (including any associated travel); (e) indemnifies the Released Parties from any and all losses that the Released Parties may incur arising out of any act or omission by him/her in connection with the Contest or the applicable Prize Trip; and (f) except where prohibited by law, acknowledges the Released Parties’ right to publish and/or broadcast the Contest winner’s picture, name, voice, likeness and/or statements without further compensation other than the Prize Trip offered. The wording of the Release will be determined by the Sponsors, in their sole discretion. The Sponsors may also add such other terms and conditions to the Release as the Sponsors, in their sole discretion, may deem necessary./p
pEach selected Entrant must return the Release by the date indicated on the document. If a selected Entrant’s Release is not returned on time or is returned as non-deliverable, or if a selected Entrant answers the skill-testing question incorrectly or is disqualified for any other reason, that selected Entrant may be required to forfeit the applicable Prize Trip in its entirety, at Destination BC’s sole discretion. If any Prize Trip is forfeited in accordance with this Rule 5, another potential winning Entrant for that particular Prize Trip will be randomly selected from the remaining eligible Entries using the process set out in Rule 4./p
pEach Selected Guest will also be required to sign and return a liability/publicity release prior to travel. All such releases must be returned by the date indicated on the document or travel will not be booked and the applicable Prize Trip may be forfeited./p
p 6. PRIVACY
/ppBy participating in the Contest by submitting an Entry, you:/p
p(a) acknowledge and consent that your personal information, including your first and last name, email address, state and nbsp;zip code (your “strongContact Information/strong”) is being collected from you by Seattle Magazine for the purpose of conducting the draw (the “strongInitial Purpose/strong”) and that, in the event that you are selected as a Contest winner, your full mailing address, photograph, voice, likeness and/or statements (together with your Contact Information, the “strongPersonal Information/strong”), is being collected from you by Destination BC or its authorized representative for the purposes of (i) your participation in, and the operation, administration and promotion of, the Contest, including the organization of the applicable Prize Trip, and (ii) the promotion of other contests organized by Sponsor (together with the Initial Purpose, the “strongPurposes/strong”);/p
p(b) consent, for the Purposes, to (i) the indirect collection of your Contact Information by Destination BC or its authorized representative from Seattle Magazine, (ii) the storage of your Personal Information by the Sponsors or their authorized representatives, inside or outside of Canada, and (iii)nbsp; the public disclosure of, and access to, your Personal Information (excluding your email address and mailing address), inside or outside of Canada (including, if you are selected as a winner, the disclosure of your Personal Information (excluding your email address and mailing address) on the Sponsors’ websites and through other media accessible to the general public); and/p
p(c) if, at the time of submitting your Entry, you indicated that you wish to receive a guide to vacationing in British Columbia, seasonal travel information, special offers and trip ideas (collectively, the “strongTravel Information/strong”), you also consent to (i) the disclosure to your email provider by Destination BC of your email address and the use by Destination BC of your email address for the purpose of sending you the Travel Information electronically, or (ii) if you requested a print version of the Travel Information, you acknowledge and consent that your mailing address is being collected by Destination BC, and you consent to the disclosure to the applicable mail service provider by Destination BC of your mailing address and the use by Destinationnbsp; BC of your mailing address for the purpose of mailing you the Travel Information./p
pThe consents listed above are effective as of the date on which you submit your Entry and will not expire unless revoked by you in writing to the contact listed below./p
pYour personal information is collected, used and disclosed by the Sponsors pursuant to sections 26 (c) and (d) of the emFreedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act /em(British Columbia) for the purposes set out in this Rule 6. pstrong7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY /strong/p
pThe Sponsors assume no responsibility for, and under no circumstances will the Sponsors or any of their respective agents, employees, contractors or assigns, be liable to any person or business entity for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential or other damages based on any Entrant’s participation in the Contest, including for: (a) Entries which are incomplete, unintelligible, lost, late or misdirected; (b) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to failure of the Internet or the Website during the Contest Period, any problems, failure or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, online or electronic systems, servers, access providers, computer hardware or software, incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/e-mail computer or mobile device transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof or other failures related to hardware, software or virus; (c) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (d) technical or human error related to the administration of the Contest or the processing of Entries; (e) any injury, loss or damage of any kind which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from any Entrant’s, winner’s or Selected Guest’s participation in the Contest and/or the any Prize Trip or any component thereof; (f) any use of the Website or any other website to which the Website is linked (including without limitation any injury or damage to an Entrant’s or any other person’s computer or mobile device relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading of any materials relating to this Contest); or (g) any Entrant’s failure to abide by the Official Rules. The limitations of liability set out in this Rule 7 apply, without limitation, to any lost profits, business interruption or loss of programs or information and will apply even if either or both of the Sponsors have been specifically advised of the possibility of such damages./p
pstrong8. RELEASE BY ENTRANT/strong/p
pBy participating in the Contest by submitting an Entry, you hereby release the Sponsors and their respective representatives, including employees, agents, licensees, successors, assigns, contractors and subcontractors, from any and all liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any injury, loss or damage of any kind to any person or persons, whether intentional or unintentional, related to or resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in this Contest./p
pstrong9. WARRANTY DISCLAIMER/strong/p
pThe Website and all of the information it contains is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. All implied warranties, including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, are hereby expressly disclaimed. The Prize Trips and all components thereof are awarded “as is” and without warranty of any kind, express or implied./p
pstrong10. MISCELLANEOUS/strong/p
pstrongAll decisions of the Sponsors or their authorized representatives will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. /strongThe Sponsors reserve the right, without prior notice, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond its control. In the event of cancellation of the Contest, Seattle Magazine may randomly select the winning Entries from all eligible Entries received prior to cancellation in accordance with the process set out in Rule 4. The Sponsors reserve the right to amend the Official Rules without prior notice if any factor interferes with the proper conduct of the Contest as contemplated by these Official Rules. Should multiple users of the same e-mail account enter the Contest and a dispute thereafter arise regarding the identity of the Entrant, the authorized account holder of said e-mail account at the time of entry will be considered the Entrant. “strongAuthorized account holder/strong” is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization which is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address./p
