“Italians, both men and women, are thought to be the most fashionable and impeccable dressers in the world, but what I admire is the work and knowledge behind the beauty, ” says Issaquah-based accessories designer Mun Hui Yi. After spending 14 years in Florence, Italy, working for Valentino, Hugo Boss and Benetton, she returned to the Seattle area in 2012 armed with European style inspiration and a commitment to artisanal craftsmanship.

For her debut line, RainColor rain boots, Yi combined high style and high quality with Pacific Northwest functionality. The boots—which are made in Italy and retail for $139—are versatile and sensible. The foot is composed of soft yet durable 100 percent waterproof rubber, and the shaft is water-resistant nylon. An elastic cinch means the boots can be worn pulled up just below the knee or scrunched down around the ankle, depending on mood or weather. Yi’s first collection features the boots in four colors (black, gray, Bordeaux and teal), with more options slated for fall 2015. Available at 8telier (downtown, Pacific Place;) and Splendid Avenue (Issaquah, 317 NW Gilman Blvd., Suite 27; 425.369.4818;) or online at muny.it.
