Deep Sea Diver just released its extended play Always Waiting. Indie rockers know that Deep Sea Diver is Jessica Dobson’s baby. Who is Jessica Dobson? Well if you read Seattle Magazine’s 50 Bands Rocking Seattle Music Right Now this month, you probably heard her. Dobson is pretty much the coolest person I’ve heard about in the Indie Rock arena. She’s primarily a singer and guitarist (amongst the many other instruments she plays) and has performed with some pretty famous bands. Watch out, I’m getting ready to name-drop! Bands she has performed with include: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Spoon, and Divine Fits. She’s also been the touring guitarist for Beck and The Shins.

While on the road, she’s been on stage at Coachella and Bumbershoot and appeared on Saturday Night Live and Late Night with David Letterman.

So as I was saying, Deep Sea Diver is Dobson’s baby—her band that she started with her husband and drummer, Pete Mansen. The band includes Elliot Jackson (synth, piano, guitar, and vocals) and Garrett Gue (bass). Jessica is the featured vocalist and along with the band, showcases her emotions through her singing, careful instrumentation, unpredictable rhythm and intimate songwriting.

“One thing that we try to keep in mind is never to recreate something we did before…simply put, we are learning how to take more risks.” Dobson told Grandstand Media & Management. Grandstand tells us that Always Waiting is a follow up to 2011’s History Speaks LP and an antecedent to 2015’s not-yet-named second LP. They say it will be released early next year and is apparently engineered by THE Darrell Thorpe (of Radiohead, Beck, and Air).

We know we can’t wait! Check out Always Waiting on iTunes or Soundcloud today.
