Fridays before long weekends are always especially sweet, aren’t they? We’re adding to that happy, fuzzy Friday feeling with three new finds we are obsessing over:

I have a bit of a boot problem, and cowgirl boots? Look out debit card; you’re about to take a major hit. I frequently haunt Suzie Jarvis’ awesome little boot shop The Vintage Closet in Ballard and always marvel at her keen eye. Luckily for us, Jarvis is opening a second shop in Fremont next week, The Vintage Angel, focusing on vintage clothes this go-round. Jarvis is also lending that great design eye to her own collection of garments “Q”, which will be carried in the shop. The official opening date is next Thursday, June 2 (check out a sneak peek of the merch on their Facebook page); I’ll be there waiting at the door.

Need to freshen up your décor for summer? Make a Memorial Day weekend pit stop at darling new Guesthouse in Madrona, where owner Kate Sehulster also lends a great eye for style to her perfectly-selected home boutique. The ever-evolving selections of salvaged seashells, antlers or French-style candlesticks are layered among a vast fabric selection used for custom reupholstery jobs. Read more in our June Shopping Around column.

Okay, okay there are a LOT of iPhone covers, do-dads and accessories out there, but Lazerwood’s new hand-carved wood covers blow those plastic things straight out of the water. Hand-crafted by Squire Park resident Apryl Waldman, the wood veneer skins peel and stick on your precious phone for a totally arty, awesome costume.

Even just one purchase — a computer, for instance — can recoup a basic membership fee. Rumors have been swirling for years that the company would raise its…

Tinsel, eggnog, mistletoe, and luggage

Travel lovers are the easiest people to buy for. Wrap a gift in old maps and they’ll spend hours deciphering the roadways and important coordinates. Put something inside the wrapping that will satiate their wanderlust, or encourage it, and you might be their next invitee to Paris.
