!–paging_filter–pSeattle’s oldest homegrown outdoor outfitter, a href=”http://\/\/staging.seattlemag.com/filson“Filson/a, purveyor of “Unfailing Goods”, took a bite out of the Big Apple last weekend, opening their first retail outlet on the East Coast in New York City’s NoHo district (40 Great Jones Street between the Bowery and Lafayette Streets) next to an apparently iconic (and I’m sure amazing) a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firehouse,_Engine_Company_33_and_Ladder_Com…” target=”_blank”Beaux Arts firehouse/a./p
p“Filson is delighted with this new opportunity to bring our unfailing goods to the New York City adventurer,” says chief executive Officer Alan Kirk. “Founded as a rugged working man’s outfitter, it feels right that Filson will be located next to a firehouse.”/p
pTrue to form, the new 1,800 square-foot store’s design is an immersive experience (if you haven’t been to their Fourth Avenue flagship, you need to take a trip to SoDo to check it out), featuring rough-hewn walls of wood, lush greenery, plenty of outdoor photography showing their rough and ready gear in action and all their signature luggage, mannequins adorned with tin cloth and Mackinaw wool outerwear and leather accessories in full dis-play. The new store is the brand’s first to offer their new line of camera bags, developed in collaboration with a href=”http://www.magnumphotos.com/” target=”_blank”Magnum Photos/a./p
