Hermès 8 Ties Exhibit at The Bravern
By Seattle Mag October 26, 2012
If you missed the Hermès Festival of Crafts last February at The Bravern, where a traveling group of artisans set up workshop in the Bravern’s Exhibition Space and blew viewers’ minds with their skilled fine craftsmanship, now’s your chance to see something else amazing from this iconic French design house, this time with a nod to future rather than a glimpse at the past.
From October 31 through November 6, the “8 ties” installation will allow visitors to see the new Hermès Heavy Twill collection through the lens of innovative artistic technology. Designed by artist Miguel Chevalier, this interactive digital experience allows the viewers’ movements to influence and animate ties onto a virtual reality wall using computer language and music.
A second, smaller installation is an interactive book where readers view metaphorical texts that discuss how to tie common knots (the Windsor and the multiple Windsor) in unexpected way.
