June 12 is Filson Day
By Seattle Mag June 12, 2014
!–paging_filter–pLast June 12, the City of Seattle declared June 12 a href=”http://\/\/staging.seattlemag.com/filson“Filson/a Day to commemorate the day the 100+ year-old Seattle company opened the doors to its brand new Seattle factory and world headquarters on First Ave. S in SoDo./p
pWhile Filson has been quietly manufacturing their clothing and luggage in Seattle since 1897, most recently in their Fourth Ave. S location, their new 57,400 square foot building boasts a state-of-the-art factory, showroom and offices in a converted warehouse. The factory floor, which also features sturdy sewing machines that have been in use for decades, is separated from the lobby by clear glass walls, so visitors have a clear view into the heart of the operation and workers have a nice view out. All of Filson’s luggage and other bags are made right there./p

pFilson must be in big expansion mode—they’ve recently opened a a href=”http://\/\/staging.seattlemag.com/filson-opens-rad-new-store-nyc“store in New York/a, will be opening an outlet in Minnesota and a regular store in Minneapolis (with sister brand a href=”http://\/\/staging.seattlemag.com/filson-shinola-american-made-goodness“Shinola/a)—and has plans to upgrade its Fourth Ave. S factory in the near future./p
