Next time you visit the Space Needle, you’ll notice something quite different: Internationally recognized fashion designer Luly Yang has brought her distinct style to Seattle’s globally recognized icon.

The Luly Yang Design Group – an arm of Luly Yang Couture that designs and manufactures custom-branded corporate uniforms – is creating “one-of-a-kind” uniforms for Space Needle employees.

“The Space Needle is an architectural landmark known around the globe,” says Yang, who founded Luly Yang Couture in 2000. “It’s a dream come true to bring the beautiful, recognizable design details from the building into the garments themselves.”

The Space Needle uniform design was inspired by the iconic shape of the building’s silhouette. The garment’s seams, color blocks, texture and reflective trims were designed to mirror architectural lines. The Space Needle’s brand was referenced for the colors and logos.

Yang opened her studio with 12 bridal gowns and has since branched out into cocktail, evening wear and menswear.

“The brand champions our values of innovation, engineering and sustainability,” says Karen Olson, Space Needle chief marketing officer. “(The uniforms) represent the iconic Space Needle reimagined.”

Yang last year designed the uniforms for Climate Pledge Arena employees.
