By Seattle Mag January 7, 2014
!–paging_filter–pAmsterdam-based men’s wear shop a href=”http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/home” target=”_blank”Suitsupply/a, has opened downtown on Fifth Avenue, in a 3,800 square foot space once home to Z Gallerie and perhaps an art gallery or two. The Seattle store is Suitsupply’s tenth stateside shop, joining other outposts in New York City, Atlanta and Denver./p
pIn addition to suits, which start at $399 and top off at around a grand, the shop offers on-site tailoring, footwear, accessories and outwear, of particular importance to the men in this town. “Function is the foundation of men’s fashion,” say company founder and CEO Fokke de Jong. “And, while suits are our sustenance, we expect our trenches and pea coats to do especially well.”/p

pThe shop is opening at a perfect time for men in this town, many of who, according to company spokesman Nish de Gruiter, were already shopping online at Suitsupply. Apparently Seattle-area zip codes, from Boeing, Amazon and Microsoft, constituted much of their sales from the region. Suitsupply is perfect for the man who is partial to unique touches to their classic menswear options: double-breasted waistcoats, peak lapels, brogues, Chesterfields, Harris tweed. And if you don’t know what those things are, the well-trained and dapper staff can inform you. The rest of the inventory is great for a man who likes a tapered leg, skinny pants, bowties, pocket squares, cardigans, all done in gorgeous fabrics with a totally modern feel./p
pThe space itself is sleek and fresh feeling, with bright colors and bold photos from the company’s current fall/winter campaign. If you’re a guy, or have a guy in your life, this is a great new place to get dressed in town./p
