Look up: You might be able to sneak a peek at The Perseids meteor shower Tuesday and Wednesday night until dawn thanks to potentially positive weather conditions. Earth will be passing through Comet Swift-Tuttle’s trail, which means skywatchers have a chance of seeing quite a few fireballs should the sky be clear. Free Day at the State Parks: Always wanted to travel to one of Washington’s many state parks sans the required Discover Pass? On August 25, you can do just that. The free day (note: if you stay overnight or rent a facility fees are not waived) honors the National Park Service’s 99th birthday and enables the public to visit a park free of charge. A Discover Pass normally runs $30 annually or $10 for a single day. 

Bathroom Break: Yesterday, the Seattle City Council adopted legislation that requires “all City-controlled and privately occupied public accommodations to designate existing and future single-stall bathrooms as all-gender facilities,” according to the Seattle PI. The move is a huge step forward for those in the transgender community, who now will have the option of using gender-neutral, single-stall restrooms in City buildings and spaces such as restaurants, coffee shops, stores and hotels.
