PCC Community Markets is eyeing the Eastside for growth.

The Seattle-based grocer – the largest community-owned food market in the United States – will open a store in Bellevue at 11615 N.E. Fourth St. on August 12. The store will also feature a large studio to host PCC’s popular cooking classes, which are currently being held online due to restrictions created by the coronavirus.

It also plans to relocate its Kirkland store next year with 30% more space, or 19,000 square feet. The store, which was the co-op’s second when it opened in 1978, will include a seafood-focused restaurant like the one found at the Ballard location.

Both new stores will be designed to meet Living Building Challenge Petal Certification, the world’s most rigorous green building standard.

The new Bellevue store gives PCC 15 locations across the region, including four on the Eastside.
