I like it better when we don’t lose our designers to New York, but it happens. And when it does, they often have a sale, so that’s a good thing. I guess. We lost Irene Wood last year and this year’s it’s accessory designer Rian Berry, whose crew is picking up and heading east soon, but not before selling off their inventory of slouchy-chic bags and scarves (for men and women) from both the Rian and the Poverty Flats by Rian lines.

The sale is Thursday, January 17 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Rian Handbags showroom in the NW Work Lofts at 159 Western Avenue W, Suite 457.  Everything is priced to move, including fixtures and desks, at between $1 and $100. Check out their Facebook page for more events details.

Seattle is much the poorer from their absence. Good thing some of Rian’s stuff is available at Nordstrom.

Travel lovers are the easiest people to buy for. Wrap a gift in old maps and they’ll spend hours deciphering the roadways and important coordinates. Put something inside the wrapping that will satiate their wanderlust, or encourage it, and you might be their next invitee to Paris.
