If Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch opts to display any obscene gestures during the Super Bowl (AKA, his crotch grab during the playoffs), NFL officials say referees will tack on a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Lynch had previously been fined around $30,000 for his PG-13 gestures.

Last week, a dead whale was discovered underneath a ferry dock near downtown Seattle and now, the cause of death has been determined. The Associated Press reports the 32-foot-long gray whale was struck by the propeller of a large vessel. “The necropsy found large, deep gashes on the whale’s right side and back, indicating the cause of death. The gashes extended into the whale’s body cavity and the propeller’s force had sheared off one of its ribs.”

Empire strikes back: Rivals Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines continue to duke it out in the Pacific Northwest market. The larger Atlanta-based Delta has nearly doubled the amount of domestic flights out of Seattle, threatening smaller carrier Alaska’s stronghold on the area. But according to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Alaska has reported record profit as well as decreased costs for the fourth quarter and that it’s growing at rapid clip, entering 16 new markets last year.
