Though not their official job title—that would be co-owner—Hana Ryan Wilson and Jason Parker of Craft & Culture (craftandculture.com) could very well slap “liaison” onto their business cards: The duo created their e-shop last January expressly to connect top-tier designer talent to the masses (Etsy.com on steroids, if you will).

“We noticed an entire class of designers that didn’t have a consistent platform to showcase their work,” says Wilson. “We wanted to open their beautiful work up to a broader audience.” Goods featured on the site come from both international designers and emerging local stars, and include items such as edgy, graphic leggings ($42) and gothic jewelry (starting at $56 for a skeleton-inspired silver cuff) from Capitol Hill’s indie darlings Actual Pain, and quirky home goods from Ballard-based Ladies & Gentlemen.

But Craft & Culture is more than a one-click stop and shop: The pair produces in-depth profiles of each artist, and publishes a biannual style magazine, Ledger, which features their goods; the holiday issue arrives midmonth flush with cozy knitwear from Hendrik.Lou and soft, supple suede bags by Ora, both labels based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The magazine will be available via the website or at area Rudy’s Barbershops.

Travel lovers are the easiest people to buy for. Wrap a gift in old maps and they’ll spend hours deciphering the roadways and important coordinates. Put something inside the wrapping that will satiate their wanderlust, or encourage it, and you might be their next invitee to Paris.
