Culinary Conversations with Kamala

Seattle creative agency brings voters to the table

Kamala Harris is cooking up a lot more than just policy.

With Election Day approaching, Seattle-based creative agency People People has launched Kamala’s Recipes. The new site has dishes and drinks inspired by the vice president, including the “Purple Powersuit” cocktail, “Campaign Trail Mix,” “Cat Lady Chai Cookies,” as well as recipes from her YouTube cooking show. The project aims to bring voters together over a shared love of food while encouraging voter registration and support for the Harris-Walz campaign.

People People, a woman-owned brand strategy firm founded 25 years ago, is based in Capitol Hill. It has worked on projects for Washington State Parks, Seattle Pride, University Village, and Burgermaster.

A laptop on a textured surface displays a website banner with "Kamala's Recipes." The page includes an illustration of Kamala holding a spoon, text about culinary adventures, and a cookie button that says "Donate.

Ready to cook? The site’s got everything from “Purple Powersuit” cocktails to “Campaign Trail Mix.”

This isn’t the first time the Harris campaign has been connected to the food world. In August, more than 60 celebrity chefs, restaurateurs, and food writers, including José Andrés and Giada De Laurentiis, held an online fundraiser for her campaign. The event highlighted Harris’s culinary skills and her food-related policies. Ben & Jerry’s recently released a limited edition ice cream flavor called “Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee” as part of a get-out-the-vote initiative.

With only 40 days left before Election Day, both parties are pushing voter registration efforts. The Republican National Committee has introduced VotePro, a tool that provides easy access to voter registration and polling information for conservatives.

In Washington, the deadline for online and mail registration is Oct. 28, and in-person registration remains open until Nov. 5 (Election Day). Don’t miss your chance to vote.
