The Kerflight Ripley pendant ($335), an artful mix of shadows and light slivers, comes courtesy of SoDo conceptual design studio Graypants. The hanging fixture has a curved, almost triangular shade that’s been constructed from three sheets of recyclable corrugated cardboard made flexible with a series of cuts called “kerfing” (hence the name). Go for a natural aesthetic and let the cardboard side sing, or reverse the shade to reveal one of three colors: white, black or a reddish-orange lava hue. The nipped and carved Kerflight lamp collection features two table lamps ($335–$385), a wall-mounted sconce ($345) and another, more cylindrical hanging pendant ($295), all designed in Seattle and handmade here and in Holland. Let there be light, indeed. Available at graypants.com, or contact directly: 206.420.3912, [email protected]
