Nothing motivates an afternoon of civic pride and art appreciation like the promise of a great slice

Nothing motivates an afternoon of civic pride and art appreciation like the promise of a great slice of pizza, which is why we’re so happy that Veraci pizza, owned by roving ambassadors of wood-fired goodness Errin Byrd Jett and Marshall Jett, has set up shop from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays at the Olympic Sculpture Park (Alaskan Way and Broad Street). Veraci’s pizza is traditional—thin crusted and baked in a screaming-hot adobe-style oven (1,000 degrees F)—but its ovens are not. The three ovens are on wheels and make regular appearances at farmers’ markets and festivals (visit Veraci’s Web site for other locations). Try the Green Dahlia with pesto, roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and a hint of red onion ($4.25 per 1/4-pizza slice). You’ll find Veraci at the OSP near Louise Bourgeois’ “Father and Son” sculpture. Maybe they’re waiting for pizza.
