Must List: 6 Things to Do in Seattle This Week

Sips, tats, and laughs

By Sarah Stackhouse August 15, 2024

Collage featuring things to do in Seattle this week: Foo Fighters concert, Seattle Tattoo Expo, Sunset Supper at Pike Place Market, and Peter Pan Broadway musical. Various colorful images and logos represent each event.

Seattle’s buzzing with all kinds of news this week. Starbucks just brought in a new CEO, and everyone’s wondering what changes are coming. With Husky games kicking off later this month, sailgating is the talk of the town — and yes, it’s as fun as it sounds. On the food scene, two West African spots are creating community with dishes that bring people together and remind them of home. And have you noticed the murals popping up all over? They’re turning Seattle into a colorful, ever-changing work of art.

As always, here’s your guide to the best of Seattle this week.

Sunset Supper

Friday, Aug. 16

7:30 p.m.-11 p.m., Pike Place Market, $200+

Sunset Supper is basically the ultimate foodie free-for-all, right in the heart of Pike Place Market. You’ll be sipping and sampling your way through a maze of 115 of Seattle’s top restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries. And it’s not just about stuffing your face (though you definitely will). There’s a raffle, live music, and dancing — and it’s all in support of the market.

Seattle Tattoo Expo

Aug. 16-18

Fri: 2 p.m.-9 p.m., Sat: noon-9 p.m., Sun: noon-7 p.m., Seattle Center, $30+

If you’re into body art, this is where you’ll find the city’s most talented tattoo artists showing off their skills, plus live tattooing, competitions, and all the inked-up glory you could want.

Comedy Bang! Bang! Live!: The Bang! Bang! Into Your Mouth Tour 2024

Saturday, Aug. 17

8 p.m., Moore Theatre, $39.75 – $69.75

I couldn’t be more excited about this one. My husband and I spent the pandemic glued to the Comedy Bang! Bang! TV show, laughing at its absurd humor. It was the kind of ridiculousness that made everything feel just a little bit more okay in those strange times. If you’re into unpredictable, silly comedy, this live recording of the podcast will hit the spot.

Chinatown-International District Food Walk: Summer 2024

Saturday, Aug. 17

11 a.m.-4 p.m., Hing Hay Park

Score some killer $4, $6, and $8 bites from your favorite spots around the CID and shop locally while you’re at it. Swing by the info booth at Hing Hay Park to grab a menu. Then, plot your course and munch your way through.

Foo Fighters

Sunday, Aug. 18

5:30 p.m., T-Mobile Park, $105+

Legendary Seattle band Foo Fighters are back and ready to blow the roof off T-Mobile Park this weekend. They’re bringing along the Pretenders and Alex G as special guests.

Peter Pan

Aug. 21-Aug. 25

The Paramount Theatre, $36+

This classic musical has been dazzling audiences for nearly 70 years and is making a return in a new adaptation by playwright Larissa FastHorse, directed by Emmy Award winner Lonny Price.

It’s 2024, and Yes, We’re Still Very Asian

Very Asian Foundation returns to Seattle for second fundraiser

Running a startup nonprofit feels a lot like having your first child — you have no idea what you're getting into. It ages you in dog years. I remember those early days in Shoreline, navigating sleepless nights, and wondering why anyone would choose this relentless path more than once. The duality of caregiving hit hard:
