Seattle’s buzzing: There’s an uptick in foot traffic, visitors are nearing pre-pandemic levels, and come April, the city will kick off a sustainability-themed poetry campaign. Keep an eye out for local verse! And this week, there’s a lot to explore in art, culture, and nature.

Seattle Convention Center, $60+

Sakura-Con is the longest-standing anime convention in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a hub for gaming, cosplay, panels, concerts, and more, boasting more than 100,000 square feet of exhibit space.

LIVE WIRE WITH LUKE BURBANK

7:30 p.m., Town Hall Seattle, $20+

Live Wire, an independent Portland-based radio show, blends interesting conversation, live music, and comedy. Don’t miss seeing it live in Seattle.

PDX Jazz presents Laurie Anderson

Saturday, March 30

8 p.m., Benaroya Hall, $59.75+

Laurie Anderson is NASA’s first artist-in-residence. She’s known for her pioneering album Big Science, and for her commitment to pushing the boundaries of art and technology. Her live performances are a creative mix of storytelling and multimedia performance.

BEETLEJUICE

April 2-7

The Paramount Theatre, $200+

A hilariously devious ghost is hired by a recently deceased couple to haunt their former home, intertwining with the story of a lonely young girl. This musical reimagines the cult classic film and is now touring across the U.S. after its Broadway run.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is spread across several locations, all mapped out online with an event calendar to guide you. You’ll need separate tickets for each garden, and since the tulips bloom on nature’s schedule, check the site before you go. Bring your boots and a raincoat — it’s spring in Seattle.
