Buying a home is a ridiculously competitive process. Zillow notes in this report that inventory has fallen to historically low levels, with a “national seasonally adjusted low of 1.28 million homes for sale down from 1.97 million homes in April 2011.” And it’s particularly difficult for buyers searching in the more affordable range.

So it was a bit surprising when I stumbled upon this Highlands home–complete with gorgeous views and manicured grounds–and noticed that no one had scooped it up in 184 days. Granted, it’s expensive. The 1969-built villa with 3,500 square feet located at 5 Scenic Drive will cost you a cool $2.3 million. But that kitchen. Those windows. Surely there are folks out there who would want to make this their dream house.

I would do dishes every day if that was my view.
