When it comes to weekend getaways, the Walla Walla Valley is a destination that provides an idyllic escape to the serene countryside with small-town charm and comfort. As the autumn and winter months approach, the picturesque landscape transforms to reflect the triumphs of another bountiful harvest and an overall sense of tranquility settles across the Valley. It’s also the perfect time of year to explore one of the most dynamic wine regions in the Pacific Northwest, and this season, the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance is offering a chance to experience all it has to offer, like a local.

Created in collaboration with Walla Walla Valley winemakers and winegrowers, WWander Walla Walla Valley Wine, a series of curated itineraries, offers insider insights to navigating bucolic Washington wine country. Each itinerary is unique to the winemaker who authored it, leading participants through the Valley’s award-winning wineries, restaurants and under-the-radar experiences.  Walla Walla tends to settle down in the fall and winter season, offering a fantastic opportunity for a more personalized visit.

This year’s program includes eight itineraries available Thursday through Sunday from October 3 to December 15, 2019.  The vast range of activities gives “WWanderers” the chance to choose from itineraries themed with outdoor excursions to leisurely traipses, foodie adventures to historical tours. One thing is sure – the Walla Walla Valley offers something for everyone and, of course, it all pairs perfectly with exquisite wines.

Walla Walla is home to more than 100 wineries and close to 3,000 acres of vineyards along with a robust arts and culture scene, diverse restaurant and dining options, outdoor adventure, scenic beauty and small-town charm. The Walla Walla Valley has grown in the past fifteen years and has the highest concentration of wineries in Washington, creating a dynamic visitor experience for wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts.

Visitors can register for the itinerary of their choice at WallaWallaWine.com/WWander. Registrants gain access to the full itinerary and receive special tasting fees and a 10% discount on the purchase of two or more bottles upon check-in at the itinerary author’s host winery. Registration is free, and the itinerary is a pay-as-you-go experience.

Many of the stops on the WWander itineraries are walkable, but for safety and convenience’s sake, take advantage of local tour companies, bicycle rentals or ride share services for transportation. For more information on where to stay, wineries and other activities, visit WallaWallaWine.com, and make sure to tag your journey on social media with #WWander and #WallaWallaWine.
