Hansen Lamp Shade (Lake City, 10706 Lake City Way NE; 206.363.1635) has been lighting up Seattle since 1937, and it is still the place to go for restoration and repair of your loved lights old or new, and for a custom hand-sewn shade. Not to mention, it has 3,000 shades at the ready; you’re welcome to bring in your lamp base to find the best shade fit.

Harold’s Lighting (Wallingford, 1912 N 45th St., 206.219.4341; Bellevue, 223 106th Ave. NE, 425.441.9147) has no limit when it comes to supply, from quaint Art Nouveau–style glass lamps to ultramodern sconces. Look for its August sale, which boasts discounts of up to 50 percent.
